Some important points to bear in mind while getting used to your hearing aids

• Your hearing aids should have been set up so that sounds can never be uncomfortably loud for you. However, if you find the sound does get uncomfortably loud, tell your audiologist or hearing aid dispenser at the earliest opportunity. You may need to stop using the aids in the meantime.

• Your hearing may seem ‘dull’ when you take your hearing aids off. This is natural because you are becoming used to hearing better with the hearing aids.
You may not get the most from your hearing aids if you choose to use them only occasionally.  And wearing your hearing aids for prolonged periods allows your brain to get accustomed to the amplified sound.

• Most people don’t get full benefit from their hearing aids until they’ve been using them extensively for two to three months, or more.
