In the UK there are two distinct routes to getting a hearing aid. Under the National Health Service, modern hearing aids are available free of charge by referral to an Audiology or ENT clinic by your GP. However, you can opt for the private route by visiting a ‘high street’ hearing aid dispenser. These two routes are quite separate, and there is no NHS financial support towards private purchase. However, please be aware that NHS trusts have the power to send you to a private dispenser
for NHS service
if they need extra resource – and some dispensers operate from hospital premises by renting accommodation.
