Listening Effort

To investigate the effort patients experience when trying to understand speech under noisy conditions, we have chosen to include an effort-rating procedure in the auditory profile.

The listening-effort rating is a Level I (standard) tests, which means that it should be executed for every patient.

Subjects are asked to indicate the experienced effort on a scale while listening binaurally to speech material (fairy tales) in four different noise conditions. These noise conditions include different noise types and signal-to-noise ratios.
